Hello again

I’m back for more blogging.  For a while there I had forgotten about this, but no longer!

What to write about…um…Ooh, I know.

Piano.  Recently I’ve been trying harder to put in more time and effort for practicing.  Now I’ve come up against a specific problem; I can’t sight read.  Well, I can, but not anywhere near the standard I need to be.  I’ve heard lots of different (and similar) opinions on sight reading and how to get better, but up to now I just haven’t been working on it much.  Theoretically, all you need to do to learn it is, well, to keep doing it.  Unfortunately, what I personally tend to see when I do that is more mistakes.

I’m really eager to learn this, because it’ll let me do some accompaniment which I something I really want to try and be able to do.  Heck, if I was good enough, I could even get paid for it.  Anyways, specifically recently I’ve gotten some requests to do some accompaniment (a couple for some other musicians, and one for a musical at my old high school theatre), which I really can’t do because of this specific problem.  I’d love to help them out, I really would…if only I could get this sight reading thing going.

*sigh*

Better get started.  In fact, I think I’m going to make a personal goal to work on sight reading at least 30 minutes per day, and shoot for 1 hour per day, over the summer (the next 3 months).  I’m going to see if there’s anything to these “just do it” suggestions…hmm.  Well sadly, unless I can learn everything I need to learn in a matter of 3 days, I won’t be able to do any of the requests I’ve gotten, but maybe in the future I’ll be able to help someone out.  Hopefully though I’ll be able to at least learn some of what I need to know in 3 months.  Seems like a reasonable goal.

Hi guys, it’s your good old buddy Adam.  I’ve decided to start a blog here and write about funny, lame, and downright interesting stuff in my blog.  I don’t know what I’ll be writing about but it’ll be something you’ll like…probably.  I don’t know.  Do you like blogs about gooey delicious chocolate candy?  No?  Well I guess I’ll write about other things then.

WAIT WAIT, come back!  I thought of something!

Sickness sucks.  Sickness sucks so strongly, sickness should swim so slowly so some sea shall…uh…well the thesaurus doesn’t have any more S words to use.  Basically I don’t like being sick, maybe I should have just said that.  But it certainly wouldn’t have been as fun.

So since sickness sucks (I did that one on my own), I’m trying to get over it with tea (O_O), etc…but it’s looking like it’ll be a few more days.  It really isn’t cool, especially with it being winter break and all.  Yeah, I’m in college, just got through my first semester.  Then I finally get a long break and I hold out until Christmas and then boom, down I go.

It’s been creeping up on me, for a while, even before Christmas.  I think it must have given me a twisted, germy present that it opened inside me on Christmas night.  I don’t know, but it was probably something devious and Christmas related.  Any better theories?

Well the point of all this is I wanted to give a shout out to all my friends with whom I’ve had to pass on hanging out (like that grammar I did right there?).  I’ll be back in business soon, just as soon as I return this lame ass present from the bacteria king.  Hopefully I won’t regift in the process.
